PRO DRAG RACING CHAMIPIONSHIP

WHAT IS PRO ALCOHOL?

Pro Alcohol is the raw, wild west of the Pro Drag Racing Championship. A place where ingenuity is celebrated and fierce rivalries are built over decades of tough racing.

Pro Alcohol is the only Professional Drag Racing Championship category to feature three different types of chassis/vehicle combinations; Funny Cars, Dragsters and Altereds. All use the same style of engine, a supercharged methanol (or "alcohol") hemi based V8 with around 4500 horsepower.

Funny Cars are short wheelbase, tube chassis vehicles with a one-piece carbon fibre body based on popular late model muscle cars such as Mustangs or Camaros. The driver sits in the centre of the car, behind the engine with their legs either side of the gearbox, with the cockpit located between the rear Tyres and directly above the differential.

Altereds utilise the same Chassis configuration as a funny car, with one significant difference; gone is the sleek and aerodynamic one piece body, replaced with a small body that covers only the cockpit and rear tyres. The driver's head and roll cage is in the open air, as is the engine - making for wild and unpredictable racing!

Dragsters are the iconic image of what a Drag Car looks like - long and stable with the big tyres at the back and the small tyres at the front. Typically, drivers sit in front of the engine however there has been a trend over the last few seasons that has seen" front engine dragsters" make a resurgence.

Pro Alcohol vehicles can cover the quarter mile in 5.3 seconds at well over 270mph (430kph) and produces side by side racing that has made this category a fan favourite!
